Angkor Alchemy
Turning Waste into Energy, Soil & Opportunity
Community-powered waste solutions for Southeast Asia – engineered in Switzerland, rooted in Cambodia

Grassroots Waste Solutions empower local communities to turn waste into opportunity—through accessible technology, training, and people-powered action. We start small, scale smart, and grow from within.
The Challenge
A Triple Crisis Undermining Rural Resilience
Southeast Asia’s rural regions face an overlapping crisis of plastic pollution, energy poverty, and soil degradation – all of which limit food security, development, and climate adaptation.
Dual Waste Crisis
Southeast Asia produces over 275 million tons of waste each year – 75M plastic and 200M organic – much of it left unmanaged, polluting ecosystems and wasting regenerative value.
%
Energy Insecurity
Over 80% of rural communities lack access to reliable energy or modern waste management, leading to dependence on diesel, firewood, and open burning.
%
Soil Depletion
Between 30-40% of farmland is affected by declining soil health, weakening yields and increasing vulnerability to climate stress.
Our Solution
A Circular System Built for Rural Empowerment
Angkor Alchemy will deploy a decentralized, off-grid system that transforms plastic and organic waste into clean energy and biochar – improving soils, cutting emissions, and creating livelihoods.
Community Hubs
Starting with the MMTC in Siem Reap, we will establish waste-to-energy hubs across Southeast Asia where they’re most needed.
NagaSys 250D
A self-powered pyrolysis system that transforms plastic and organic waste into biochar and clean fuel – the engine of every hub.
The Naga App
A mobile platform that funds new hubs, connects recyclers, and tracks real-time environmental impact.
How it Works
Collect
Plastic and organic waste is gathered from communities
Convert
Waste is processed in the NagaSys 250D using co-pyrolysis
Generate
Outputs include clean-burning oil and soil-reviving biochar
Engage
The Naga App tracks activity, impact, and local participation
Growth
Revenue supports operation, enabling a regenerative growth loop
The MMTC
The Mindful Matter Transformation Center (MMTC) will serve as our pilot hub, R&D center, training ground, and public showcase in Cambodia.
Prototype operations and app deployment
Partner visits and media exposure
Grassroots training and community engagement
👉 From this anchor point, we will scale a network of local hubs across the region.
Why Now?
Off-Grid Solutions
Southeast Asia urgently needs off-grid systems to manage waste and generate clean energy.
Regenerative Agriculture
Soil regeneration is gaining momentum across the region as farmers seek sustainable methods
Local Communities
Local communities are ready for tools they can own, operate and benefit from directly.
Regulatory Momentum
ASEAN countries are tightening plastic-ban targets, and demand for carbon credits is surging.
👉 Angkor Alchemy meets this moment with a model that is practical, proven and community-powered.
How We Create Value
These three flows fund every new hub, making the model self-growing.
App Subscriptions
Building a network of waste actors and changemakers
Product Sales
Clean pyrolysis oil and biochar sold locally
Impact Data
Verified environmental benefits shared with partners and platforms
👉 Each stream fuels the next – creating a self-sustaining ecosystem where revenue grows with every new hub deployed.
The Impact We Aim to Create
We don’t just measure success by revenue – we track how much waste we divert, how many communities we empower, and how we help restore ecosystems.

👉 All impact data tracked and verified via the Naga App.

Our Story
The origins of Angkor Alchemy began in 2017, when founder Pueng That returned to Cambodia to reconnect with his roots after a life spent in Switzerland as an environmental engineer. Shocked by the scale of plastic pollution in rural areas – especially single use bags – he began developing early concepts to confront the crisis.
His exploration led him to chemical recycling and the creation of the documentary Apsara’s Whisper, which captured both the environmental challenges and the strength of local communities. This journey laid the foundation for what would become Angkor Alchemy – a community-powered movement to transform waste into energy, soil, and opportunity.
